Yet another complaint, and from Indiana

Finding information about JBC Legal Services has been quite interesting to say the least. Have recieved phone calls form JBC stating that there was an outstanding check for $26.17 (plus a $20 fee) written to AMES store in Terre Haute, Indiana and was written in 1999. AMES has long since gone bankrupt and this is the first I have heard of this "Bad Check"

I placed a call to my bank and was told that I could get a copy of the check for a cost of $2. IF they could find it. And, it would cost $10/hr to research. Though the aledged amount is much smaller than the amounts sought in other postings, it will cost me more to have the research done by the bank than to just pay the requested $46.17.

JBC stated that they have sent 2 letters to my current address but I have not seem either one. I have requested JBC Legal Services to send copies of all papers concerning this matter to me which I was told, " We have already done that".

In my opinion, it looks like JBC is going after smaller amounts aledgedly owed knowing it would cost more to find the truth than to send them the money.

I fully intend to contact the Indiana State Attorney General's office and the FTC on this matter.
