Did not pay for real estate appraisals

Starting on July 3, this company, an AMC (appraisal management company, I thought the government was supposed to regulate these companies?) ordered 6 appraisals from me. After being told I would receive payment in 30-45 days, still nothing. I have emailed them yesterday and today inquiring about payment, as I can not get through their automated phone system to talk with a live person. I appear to have been swindled out of $2890. These appraisal assignments were all for bidding purposes and were all going to Washington Mutual/Chase. Is there anything you can do to help get these monies owed or at least alert the government agencies and other unsuspecting appraisers?
