I too, was ripped off. Here is the letter I sent to their consumer relations (yeah right) group:

Dear Consumer Relations Group:

Approximately two months ago I received an offer via email to get one month free of your consumer credit report service. I decided to try it out and check my credit online. I needed only to check my report once (which I did, ONLY ONCE), and then decided I no longer needed the service. The webpage had an email address, and that same day or perhaps the following day, I sent an email from my work email stating that I no longer desired the service. I noticed at the end of the month that I had been charged anyway. I called the phone number of the company. The beginning message says to send an email to another account. I did so, AGAIN from my work email and also requested a refund since I was promised one month free and cancelled before my one month had expired. I felt sure that my request was processed.

As of today I still had not received a refund. I called your toll free number and spoke with a representative there. Dana or Bana (63558) asked if I had received a confirmation email for either one of my emails. Was I supposed to know to expect one? I have not received one for either one of my emails. Is this legal grounds for my not receiving a refund? No. I also asked her if my account had been deactivated. That was not even done! In addition, I was charged yesterday (the 19th of September) for another month of service (much to my surprise). I was willing to settle and asked that I be refunded that last charge since it has not even been one day. She said no. Now I can safely call that the WORST customer relations I have ever encountered. I asked her if she has now cancelled my membership.

Yes. Well, since I have not received confirmation emails yet from my other inquiries, I wanted to cover myself. I asked if I could have a follow up email stating that we had this conversation and that my account will be inactivated on such-and-such a date. SHE COULD NOT EVEN DO THAT!

These are my demand since I have been served such indelicate customer service both via email and on the telephone and none of my requests have been delivered to my satisfaction:

1. Refund my $9.95 from the transaction on 8/23/04 and the $9.95 which I believe has not hit my account but I was told already has been processed on your end.

2. A confirmation email stating that the above has been refunded (since your company stands by confirmation emails in such a firm way).

3. A confirmation email of the IMMEDIATE cancellation of my account.

I will be notifying the better business bureau of this problem immediately.
