Guardian FB - First Processing
Ripoff charges for MC to help build credit, but does not send the MC

First of all, I don't really know what the name of this company is. All I know is that on my statement it said Guardian FB, and the check is supposed to be made to First Processing.

This company called me up at work to ask me if I wanted a major credit card with a limit of $2000. The woman I spoke with was Ginet douglas (supposedly). I asked every question I could think of to be sure that that's exactly what I was getting: Major Card, Master Card. Limit was $2000. Unsecured. No interest for 3 years! No Annual fee. I would receive it by the 25th of August.

Once I had an affirmative answer to those questions, I foolishly gave them my bank account number. There is a one time processing fee, they said. $249 came out of my account paid to Guardian FB. Then when I didn't receive it on the 25th, I called them up and told them. They said "oh no, you misunderstood. You will receive it in 25 working days" I finally got them to see that I didn't misunderstand, and they conceded that I was "misinformed".

At this point I began to worry, so I called my bank to report this, and they sent me an affidavit to fill out. I held on to the affidavit until the 25 business days were up - hoping that I was wrong and that I was getting the Master Card.

Finally I call them up, and they said "you should have received the package by now". What package?"inside the package is a form to fill out to claim your card." I then filled out the affidavit and sent it in.

Then it dawned on me that there was a package sent to me that I didn't know who the heck it was from, and so I had tossed it. I looked through my recycling and dug it out, and sure enough, there was a form in it!

The fine print says: This is NOT a credit card. It is a "stored value" cash card that must be loaded by you. And on and on...

Not only is it not a credit card, they want me to PAY another $39.99 (this is the check that needs to be made out to First Processing). And of that $39.99, they will do me a favor by loading $12.00 of it onto my new Global Cash Master Card!

My jaw just dropped! Why do I assume that companies can only tell you what is true? Why am I hesitant to think that they will lie to me? Well, it won't happen again! Still waiting for my bank to investigate.
