Free Score system setup to charge card during free trial

Business & Finance

Signed up for a free trial to view my scores. Said membership was 9.99 after 7 days. 6 days later (on a saturday afternoon) I call to cancel. The only office that handles cancellations was closed and any rep I got a hold of said I would have to call back Monday.

I then looked for a way to cancel online. There was an option, but clicking the option led you to annoying "Are your sure?" pages. While doing this I found out that the membership price magically changed to 14.95 and that they will reduce it to 9.99 if I decide to continue my membership (that's not what it said online when I signed up). I clicked to cancel anyway and it said YOU MUST CALL TO CANCEL. I called first thing Monday morning to cancel but since this was day 8, I was already charged 14.95 (not the $9.99 I was originally informed about). They refused to refund even though I told them I did not log in after Saturday. I called the bank and they reversed the charge right-away. ALWAYS CALL YOUR BANK in this situation. They usually offer some sort of fraud protection.

Most online companies that offer free trials don't usually offer a way to cancel online and operate the same way as freescore.com so just be sure that you are calling to cancel on a Friday morning even if its during your free trial. Don't wait for 3 days to pass for Monday to come around. They will ALWAYS refuse to refund.
