Care Credit poor payment processing and less than helpful customer service techs

In 2/12 I wrote a check to Care Credit for 226.62. I wrote the amount on the payment coupon and mailed it the same day I paid 300.00 on my Wal Mart charge card in the local store. When I received my next statement from Wal Mart I was surprised I only owed 23.00 when I had charged gas all month. The reason: The 226.62 check was applied to my Wal Mart charge card. When I called Care Credit to inform them and state I couldn't imagine how it happened he informed me that they processed both Care Credit and Wal mart payments. He said as a one time courtesy he could waive 1/2 of the late fee I was charged. When I said this was not acceptable he gave me a fax number to send a letter and a copy of the front and back of the check. I faxed this late morning/early afternoon on 3/15. When I called today I was informed by a customer assistance woman that the fax arrived on 3/19 but no decision has been documented yet. She asked if I had my account number on the check and told her I don't do that as it is risky but it is on the payment slip. She said that a machine processes the payments and whatever account comes up first will have the check applied and it doesn't matter if the check is written out to someone different it can still be cashed. My response was that their policy lacked logic and I was not putting my account number on a check as that was irresponsible and risky in my opinion. She stated that the payment would go wherever then.
I wonder if the Attorney General will agree?
