Post divorce I was able to get a HUD loan to replace my conventional loan. When a lender purchases a loan they are subject to all of the stipulations of the orignal note.

Subsequently HUD sold these loans to predatory lenders like OCWEN for a fraction of their value. I don't know why.

They immediately attempted to foreclose! I tried to deal with them as if they were a normal business and finally realized that wouldn't work. I went to my bank and asked them who I would complain to if they (my bank) did something wrong. They happily gave me the name and number of the Office of the Thrift. This is the federal agency that oversees banking. Once the Office of the Thrift became involved OCWEN magically backed off. Nothing was different except that complaint.

Over time they have continued to threaten to acclerate my loan, tand have even added to the amount I owe them thier cost for trying to foreclose on me.

I would love to see a class action suit against these people but in the interim... If they're bugging you call the Office of ThriftSupervision, 10 Exchange Palce, 18th Floor, Jersey City, NJ, 07302.

Also, keep every scap of paper they send you. Mine is in descending order by date in a notebook and I keep the envelopes which show the dates they mailed things.

Once they did not send a payment stub three months in a row and I wrote them a letter including my payment and documenting the fact that they had not sent the bill. I kept copies of the letters.
