Honest Air Inc
Unhelpful and rude

Business & Finance

I was hoping to provide you with some feedback regarding Honest Air Conditioning in the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area, so your members can benefit and not waste their time calling them for a quotation or inspection of their cooling and heating system.

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a home that is 15 years old, located in North Scottsdale. This past Friday, July 8th, we had a very thorough building inspector from Aitkinson Inspection Service walk through the property and identify any needed repairs. He was not only thorough but helpful and courteous. He suggested that we also enlist the services of a professional Air Conditioning company to give an independent review of the AC unit because it's 15 years old and he was not an expert on AC units.

This weekend I was recommended by a neighbour to call Jeff, from Honest Air on his mobile phone to set up an inspection on our potential new home. I had to leave a message and a short time later I received a return call from his office assistant. I let her know that we would like an inspection report for the home's AC/Heating system and also a quotation for potentially replacing the units in future with the addition of a complete home humidifier. She said Tuesday 12th between 12-2pm would be fine so I arranged this meeting with my realtor to allow access. She also said the cost would be $75 for the inspection report and quote. Easy, or so I thought.

Today, 12th July (Tuesday), my realtor called to say that Jeff/Steve would not perform the inspection until we provided him with the building inspection report. My realtor was already driving to the house to let them in as well. I tried to call Jeff/Steve on the mobile number but had to leave another voicemail. I called the main office and spoke with Rebecca and let her know that I would like an independent and unbiased review of the AC/heating unit and didn't think providing the building inspection report was necessary. I said I'd be more than happy to provide a copy of the building inspection report after they had completed their independent review. I let her know I was concerned about potential bias. She said she would pass the message to Jeff.

I received a call back from Steve about an hour later and explained that I would just like an independent review of the AC/Heating units and a quotation. He then insisted on seeing the building report, which I declined again saying I didn't want a biased review and just wanted his opinion on the unit and to provide a quote for potentially replacing the units later on down the road. I again said after his review I'd be happy to provide a copy of the building inspection report. Steve got quite frustrated and became unpleasant on the phone. He said he didn't like that idea at all and said it could lead to a law suit between us (the buyers) and the seller. I said that wasn't the intention at all and from experience just wanted to get a second opinion for which we were willing to pay for. He said he was "too busy" and "didn't want to deal with that" and then proceeded to hang up on me! I couldn't believe it. I called my realtor to let him know and he agreed that he didn't seem at all helpful during their previous phone conversation either. My realtor said he had a contact and would have him call me. The new AC guy called me and I reiterated the same story and request. Joey had no issues with providing a quote and independent review. He did not ask for a copy of the building inspection report either.

This makes me suspicious of Honest Air. Why would they need the report? Is it so they can find out who provided the initial inspection for their own agenda or is it because they don't actually want to perform a review themselves and plagiarise our building inspector's report and essentially get paid for doing nothing? I would stay clear from Honest (or not so 'Honest' Air') and would never recommend their services to anyone.
