Bayview Loan Servicing, instead of refinancing me through HARP they tried to pull a fake collection scam on me

When HARP #1 was being talked about I attempted to refinance. Searched HARP/HAMP online and was directed to what I can only assume was a fake website since it's not there anymore which directed me to Bayview Mortgage. They were not offering the terms I had heard were being offered so no refinance was done.

However, a couple months later I started receiving collection calls. Most got voice mail and the person would hang up without leaving a message or only leaving the message that it was an attempt to collect a debt. Reverse search on the phone number did not tell me who they were. Today they called at work from 954-590-7100 and the man identified himself as Stewart Egan and said this was an attempt to collect a debt. At that point I told him I did not owe any debt and he was not permitted to call me at work.

A helpful coworker called them back and asked who they were and what they did and was told they were Bayview Mortgage. She asked for Stewart Egan and was transferred to him but didn't hold on the line. I immediately checked my credit report and score and both are fine. Just be warned these people are trouble.
