Rip-off! All the payments I had been making were going to the previous owners credit... Not mine

I bought a used Doublewide in Tupelo, MS in September of 99 and it was already finaced thru Conseco. The previous owner was in prison and I was assured that MY name would appear on the loan, but whenever Conseco would call reguarding the loan they would ask for the previous owner. I made my payments on time. Only when I went to apply for another loan and I used Conseco as another debter I realized that all the payments I had been making were going to the previous owners credit... Not mine.

I contated my lawyer and he stated by law if the owner got out that she could request that i give her her home back. I was pissed. So I called Conseco. I was assured that they would get the paperwork worked out. 3 months went by still getting mail from conseco with this other owners name. I told them, "Well you aren't getting another payment till it's in my name." This was in Feburary of 2002. Nothing was done.

Then we got a threatning call from Conseco. They said, "If you don't pay by such and such day then you can just go down at walmart and buy yourself a tent and put it in your back yard." I told her to bring the truck that I would help her hook it up. It wasn't technically mine anyway. They would give us a hard time about not wanting to speak to my wife or me because we wasn't kind to the owner.

We moved out and we called Conseco on the last trip out of the house and said come and get it. We are tired of the bull you don't want to help us so why should we make an effert to help you. She asked where would we be and I told her we would be in the cheap walmart tent in the woods.

Now they have posted this on my credit report. I dont see how considering that I never signed papers to officially transfer my name to the loan. All the corespondence we got had the other owners name we never got anything with our name on it. How could they do what they did?
