Too Good To Be True

I received a call from a pleasant woman who described herself as an Executive Assistant to the principal brokers of CTI. She said that principals of the company (unnamed) had vast experience on the Chicago Mercantile exchange and had created a sophisticated trading the was yielding more than 10% per month returns. She said that they were selecting a few people to use the trading system for a one-time investment of $8,000, and that the program was so good that it was guaranteed. I could expect to cover the entire cost of the system in just a couple of months starting with an investment as little as $2500.

As one who has worked in the investment industry, I smelled a scam. If anyone really could consistently get the returns being quoted I was sure she wouldn't be calling me and talking about a $2,500 investment. When she told me that I would have to use their brokers for my trades—"they are right on the floor of the exchange and are in a better position to make sure you trades are handled immediately, " she said, I knew that this was a scam.

I asked her to send me information via e-mail so I could review it, but she wanted me to watch an online presentation with her. When I told her I had to get back to wome work for a client, she said she would send something right away. I haven't received anything. Oh, yes, she told me that since Bernie Madoff ripped off so many peoiple, new laws are in place to protect consumers and that CTI strongly supported those protections and was guaranteeing that no one had lost money through their firm.
