Stole $299.95 from me and my family by lieing and delaying me from using the 60 day stop payment option

On or around November 21st 2003 I was contacted in connection with a Liberty Classic Credit Card with a $3000.00 credit limit. I was also told I would recieve a loan note that I could take to any bank of my choice and get a $500.00 loan to help in covering the cost of this at an extremely low apr. With it being so close to Christmas I decided to use some of the Christmas money saved to get the kids presents with to purchase the card as I have been working hard to clean my credit up after a previous relationship left me in debt up to my eyeballs!

I finally recieved a package on December 21st 2004. This package did not have anything in it the representative said it would. It came with a pre-pay credit card and a paper to fill out to return to an address they gave with it for the $500.00 loan which of course they turn down. I contacted the toll free number given to me and did as the instructed to recieve my refund. This ivolved returning the package and in a seperate envelope sending a letter as to why I wanted a refund and why I was returning the package. I did all of this stating in the letter that I had been lied to and that this was not what I was told I was getting for the $299.95 I had authorized to be withdrawn from my bank account.

I was told when I called it would take 30 to 60 days for the money to be refunded to my account and that their was nothing that could be done to speed this up. Now remember, I used money saved for my kids Christmas to do this and had expected to be able to at least use the card to compensate for the money spent on this card to finish my Christmas shopping. So needless to say I was not able to give my children the Christmas I had expected to as I was out this money.

I then patiently waited to recieve my refund. I went to the bank a couple of weeks ago and filed an unauthorized withdrawal with them which I recieved a letter about a week ago saying the transaction was to old and nothing could be done. I then contacted the number given to me (866-849-1489) which the person at that number said I had to call another number (888-863-9661) in regards to recieving my refund. I did this yesterday and was told that I would have to call back today (02/24) for the decision on my refund.

When I contacted them today I was told that my refund had been denied for no given reason. It was up to a Henry Thomas and he had refused it. He also will not speak to anyone outside his office. I contacted the Closter New Jersey Police Department in regards to Consumer Fraud by this company and was told by them that this company did not exist in Closter New Jersey although when I called the number back I had been given for the refund the representative swears that the company does exist as does the Thomas Henry who supposedly denied my refund. The Closter Police Department gave me a number to call in regards to this matter which is 973-693-5469 and to speak with Fred Fairchild. I have called and left a message as he was not in and now await his returning my call.

I also contacted the F.B.I.in regards to this and have given them all the information I could which involved calling my bank and getting more information from them. I will do my best to keep this site updated as to the progress, if any, on this situation. Don't become another victim! Don't fall for this scam as I did. If you have already authorized the withdrawal of these funds please call your bank and do a stop payment as quickly as you can. I will be going back to mine tomorrow to threaten them in getting my money back one way or another!
