Received a letter in the mail detailing I had been chosen to receive a grant through the Greendot Friend Program. Simply cash or deposit check of $960.55. Purchase green dot card for $414 and send card info via fax to cover commission of independent grant broker: Jason Friend. Keep additional money and a check ($9,040.00) will be sent Airmail Express next day.

Obviously it's a scam.

Some additional info: The checks routing number traces back to Bank of America in Richmond, Virginia. The letter was postmarked LA/Hollywood California with no return address. The letter and check were printed on standard check printing stock that anyone can purchase. That being the case, they could use any banking info they choose.
