Ripoff collection agency trying to collect false debts! Don't pay them anything!

I got several messages on my answering machine from some lady named Ann Stanley asking me to call her back. She didn't say what this was regarding or what company she was from, so I didn't bother to call her back.

A week or so later I got a letter saying that I owed $2081.85 from an account from Barclays Bank. It said I needed to call Ann Stanley if I needed further information. Otherwise I should mail them my payment.

Well since I know I have NO past due debts I called to find out what the heck this was about. I thought somebody was using my name and social security number.

Ann informed me that I owed this debt from back in 1991! What a f'n lie! I have had credit reports ran with in the last few months. I know exactly what I have and what I don't have.

I told her absolutely NOT! I asked her what is this debt from and why is this the first that I'm hearing about this? She told me that Barclays bank and the collection agency that they bought my debt from have been calling me and I never called them back. That I was ignoring them. NOT TRUE!

I told her I was disputing this. That I didn't even know what this was. She started getting so nasty! She said of course I know what this is, I'm the one that bought the stuff and never paid my bills. She was completely yelling at me. She threatened to ruin my credit and to attach my assets. She said if wanted to know what this debt was from I had to hire an attorney and have him subpeona Barclays records.

I finally got so sick of listening to her insults, I know who I am and I don't need some lady that doesn't know me insult my character. So I told her to go to hell and hung up on her.

I then went on the internet and found this web site, and thank god I did.
