Ripoff told me that we owe for a loan out of national city bank prior 15 years Rockford Illinois

The following company contacted me via mail to inform me of a delinquint loan from 15 years ago, the person on the phone could not give me any information pertaining to the loan. My husband has never used national city bank for any transactions/banking. Company said to purchase national city bank's balance of debts and found me thru a search web?

Though no paper work of this loan can be sent to me. They are requesting $5,438.08 but will give me a settlement offer of $1,486.58 if I settle now. If not I will be charged 8% on the larger amount due everyday. Who are these people and how did they get this far? Please help.
