Harassing calls daily to our home even though they have been told the person they are looking for does not live here

About a month and a half ago, we had our home phone number hooked up. That very night we received a phone call from Diversified Consultants looking for a lady who we do not know and does not live with us. We politely informed them of this. The calls continued every day, several times per day, with us telling them they have the wrong number. Finally, we threatened legal action and then the calls continued still with the people hanging up on us as soon as we answered the phone. We called them back and asked politely to be removed from the list but we were interupted, cussed at, and hung up on. We asked for a supervisor but were hung up on. Then they would call back and hang up as soon as we answered again. Finally out of frustration we decided to start calling them over and over and hanging up on them. After 20 minutes we figured they got the message and went about our business but then the phone rung and they were calling us, yelling obscenities, and then would hang up.

We finally just called the police and reported them. The police said they claimed that our number wasn't in their system. Anyways, the chief told us if they call anymore to call him immediately following the phone call and they will pursue action against this company.

I am just posting this so others know what type of company this is, very unprofessional. Also, don't let collection agencies scare you. You do not have to be harassed by them, even if you do owe them money. Just call your police and report them. I am sure I am not the first person they have done this to. All the other companies that have called regarding this woman removed our number and never called again. This was the only company that did this and I hope any businesses thinking of using this company for their collections will find a more professional company to deal with.
