Providian Credit
Ripoff

In 1998 I recieved by mail a notice that I had been approved for a credit card through Providian, being my first approved offer, I excitedly jumped on the phone and accepted the offer, to then suffer from a marriage break up, bad divorce and sending in the smallest payment needed. My card was cancelled and my account closed, Thats fine, that card hurt me more than it helped me...

Still owing money on it, I recieved a phone call from a collection company who knew ALL of my account information with Providian, this very rude and abrupt man told me that the company had decided to "cut a deal" and let me pay pennies on the dollar, My original balnce of over $1000 would be cut to just over $500, BUT that I HAD to money gram it to him THAT day, I remember it perfectly, It was January 28th It was my birthday, and I soooooooooooo stupidly thought sheeesh what a great gift, I can walk away from them for this amount and be done. Well little did I know, apx 3 week's after sending in the money, I called this Collection company to inquire about the letter I was suppose to have recieved stating that my debt was now taken care of... I could no longer get ahold of the so called collection agency, AND a few days later got a call from a 2nd collection agency, AND then AGAIN a few days later from a 3rd collection agency... IMAGINE my ANGER!!!

I literally call and fight with Providian EVERY 3 months, and am SICK of it, I have the copy of my money gram, and the information the 1st collection man gave me, all the while Providian refusing that I paid 1 penny, and claiming that I know owe WELL OVER $1200 with late charges... I have reached my last breathe with this company, I read a story where 1 lady said she actually paid her providian bill off 2.5 times to get them off her back... Well NOT this lady, they have gotten their money, and WILL NOT see 1 more penny out of me!!!

I need help with this situation, It has gone so far that I called once and they gave me an adress to have payment info sent to, so that they can investigate whether it was really paid or not, and some 6 months later I have heard NOTHING!!! I should mention that in late of 2001 I again foufht this company and sent a HUGE fax to the media center claiming to sue, and recieved a call from a lady saying oh yes, no one knew what this was, but yes it is indeed taken care of, we will get a letter out to you ASAP, well due to my stupidity and believing people, I neglected to ask her name, and now here I am some 5 years later STILL dealing with this on my credit report, they are RUINING ME!!!

I want to know of ANY story like mine, or ANY action being taken AGAINST them... I have my documents, and demand they pay for the rip off artists they are!
