$140 NSF Fee Despite Same-Day Cash Deposit and Posted Funds

I checked my account on Jan. 4, 2011, and noticed I had a low balance, so that early morning I drove to the nearest bank (20 minutes away) to deposit $140 in cash, at 10 am. I checked my account and the cash was posted and available right away. I was relieved to see that I had sufficient funds, and I even checked at midnight before I went to bed and the money was still there.

The next day I woke up to a nightmare. I checked my account online on Jan. 5 and saw flaming red, just because of charges posted on Jan. 4 of $4.14, $4.92, $5.40 and $7.51, a total of $21.97, which BB&T claimed I did not have sufficient funds to cover, in spite of the $141 I had, more than enough to cover those amounts. They charged me a $140 NSF fee even though the money was available the same day my cash deposit was made. This is totally unfair banking! I was shaking in a panic attack, crying, because I knew I needed that money to buy groceries for my family and lunch money for my kids. I cannot believe how somebody can rip people off like that.

I asked for help and, of course, got the same trained, arrogant manager, who just told me, "You can't beat the system! This is how it works!" It was nowhere on their site, and they will not tell you or give you any information on how their ACH process works. It is a game to them, their policy. They change it anytime they want, and they will not tell you how it works to begin with, because they want you to fall into their trap and lose. Once you bank with them, forget about your money; it is no longer yours, it is theirs. You can try to fight for your money, but they are all unsympathetic and they feast on every individual victim they get.

Yes, I will join forces with all victims like me to make sure the BBB reviews this unfair banking process at BB&T. Meanwhile, I will be closing this short-term but malignant relationship with them. It has been a terrible year with them, and if I stay hoping they get better, I'm afraid you might find me in the obituaries, dead from hunger, because they suck my money. They will not change until we take further action on this matter.

To any of you readers: please save yourselves before this bank (Bad Banking Team) takes your tomorrow away, as they did to my family and me. Now we have to starve for a week and a half until the next time I get paid, since BB&T will not give us our money back. FYI, both my sisters, who teach senior high school, will make sure they know not to bank with this bank, and I will make sure my experience is known to everyone who listens.
