In 1986 I wanted to go to school. I enrolled in a Tech school called National Education Center. Shortly after enrollment I was told I couln't continue until I got my G.E.D. I was unable to take any course for the G.E.D. At that time. I dropped out and didn't hear from anyone for several years. When I did, I was shocked to hear that I owed over $4000 for a few weeks of classes.in 1996 I was contacted again by a collection agency asking me to resolve the matter. I explained to them the situation. I needed records of me not signing any checks over to the school.

When I got there, the school had closed down. I relayed this info with no records to the current agency. They told me the only way to not have to pay is to fill out 3 credit applications for 3 different financial institutions and be denied. I did and there after never heard anything from anyone until Dec. 2003. Now Van Ru is requesting the principle of $4,342.88, with $4,227.01 interest and fees and cost of $2,147.42 a total of $10,717.31 for several weeks of school.

Keep in mind I never endorsed one check over to anyone. Van Ru is now attempting to garnish my wages through my current employer. A hearing might desolve this matter but I can not go Illinois. This is an outrage when companies pawn a dead debt onto someone else. Van Ru will most likely sell this account and I will still have to deal with this mess. I just wonder who will step up and resolve this matter before it goes anywhere else.
