Ripoff Scam Check

So I get this letter in the mail about a 12.60 check I wrote to Western Auto (Marlin Check) back in 1994&its 2003 now. They want 47.60 to pay off this check. I call my bank for proof of the check —too bad been to long. I paid it like a dummy and they said they would send the check back to me as proof within 2 weeks well its been 2 weeks. I think I have been scammed. I know this check was way past having to be paid but I have good credit and didnt want anything on there that would be negative.

I think these people are taking advantage of people that way. I mean if you had financial problems years back they send you something like a demand letter. I never heard anything about this check and I sure havent been hiding and to protect my good credit I just paid it. I am glad it wasnt for alot of money but a scam is ascam i would watch out for this. I am calling NJ attornet General tomorrow. Beware!
