Ripoff what I really deserve back from those jerks is $50.00

On October 23, I sent a letter to Merrick Bank asking them to set up an ACH account for me. I sent them a voided check and told them the amount I wanted withdrawn. I never heard anything back from them. Like - we received your letter. Or - we don't do automatic withdrawals or anything.

Then one day my bank is debited the dollar amount and it becomes an NSF because I didn't know they were going to withdraw it and I didn't have any funds for that particular date they took the money out on. My bank charged me $20.00.

I called Merrick and asked them what the heck they thought they were doing taking that money from my account without prior notice. "Oh, our mistake. What can we say?" Then they turned right around and debited my account that I have with them for $30.00. They did send me a letter notifying me of that transaction. How kind of them.

When I called them to explain the situation and ask them to remove that charge they said I should write a letter.

Letter wrote. Their response was?"We regret that we are unable to credit your account for this amount as this is a processing fee. You may want to contact your bank to request that they reimburse you for the expense you received due to the error."

I beg your pardon? I should do what? My bank should reimburse me for what? I don't think so. I then wrote the BBB and filed a complaint and stated that I wanted my $30.00 back. But what I really deserve back from those jerks is $50.00.
