Charged me $99 but no credit card ever came. Complete scam apparently

I applied 9/1 through Anacott Financial for a credit card to "rebuild my credit." Not only was I instantly approved for a $2300 credit line, but moreover I was instantly charged the $99 application fee (which the company states will be credited back on the credit card after the first payment). I soon called the company to confirm as I never got ANY confirmation email or information by mail - i.E., nothing in writing. More disturbing, I had to fax a copy of my license and payment debit card to them. Let me say that I am now *praying* that this does not lead to some sort of identity theft!

By October 1 (1 months later!) I still had no card and I was told it would arrive by the 6th. Well, on the 6th, still no card. I called to cancel today (10/7) and said that I expect a refund. I was told by the agent I would have a refund to my debit card (that I paid the $99 with) withing 4-7 business days. If this does not happen, I will be filing a dispute through my bank.

I am completely bewildered as to how this company is getting away with this. And I found them through an independent site recommending cards to repair credit!

I would advise anyone to stay away. I am still trying to figure out how and to who to report this.
