They say I owe a disconnect fee, but can't reach them

In 2005 I disconnected from Dish Network. The account was NOT contingent on a year contract, or so I thought. The installation was for my uncle who was home bound. Within 6 months we decided to disconnect because he was not able to operate the controls and was frustrated because of his age to do so. All monthly bills were paid and we did not take the free upgrades because it would have further complicated the use of the system. Unfortunately Dish network said we had a year contract and owed a disconnect fee of $240. Here we are 5 years later and I am not able to contact Dish Network to fix this problem on my credit. Even though at the time of disconnect I contacted them several times with no results. My uncle died shortly after disconnect and NOW... I cannot get this adverse report off my credit. Totally dismayed @ this situation. My credit has been negatively affected and I'm stuck... Frustrated with business having unlimited access to my credit and to be so unavailable to get this corrected!!! Signed... Fed UP
