Wont give a refund even though mortgage mod was denied

My husband and I paid 3000 dollars for a mortgage mod. It was denied in July. We paid an additional 1000 in Aug for an audit. Still no audit or refund of the gauranteed service of loan mod. The company can not even be reached to cancel. I have not spoken to a human being in about 2 months. My husband is a disabled veteran, how can they do this to us. We just found out a week ago they went bankrupt. How can they continue to take money from people after they are bankrupt?
