A few years ago, I received a 0% credit card balance offer for 1 year from Airtran A Visa Signature Card (Barclaycard, Card Services). After two months, I saw that they were charging me interest. First, they told me that the other credit card company did not get the transfer in prior to the due date of "the 0% offer." When I had the other credit card company provide proof that the fault was on Barclay's end, they stated that they would make certain that I got the 0% interest for one year as they promised. I told them that I wanted a paper statement from then on. They did not send me a paper statement, so I closed my account so they could not do an automatic withdrawal. I sent them a paper check instead; it was sent before the next payment was due-ON TIME. When they found out I closed my automatic withdrawal account, Barclay charged late payments (although they cashed the paper check prior to the amount due date). The interest went up from 7%, 18% and now 28 % (I've lost count). I became disabled, and I am only able to make the minimum payment. On this last paper statement that I received from them, they stated that if I continued to make the minimum payment that the $12,707.16 that I owed would be paid off in 2,506 years and I would pay a total amount of $2,814, 042.00. I know that I am not the only one that Barclay has done this to. I have never had another credit card company deal with me in this way. Somehow, for those of us that have been ripped off by Barclaycard, we need to get a Class Action Lawsuit going on this company for getting away with fraud.
