Interest rate hikes without warning

Providian raised my fixed interest credit card account from 8.99% to 21.99% without warning. I inquired, and was told that because of "credit risk factors" it was raised. My credit report has NO negative points... I score in the upper third of the US for good credit.

I was told that a statement had warned me of the increase... All that the statement had said was that there was important enclosure with my statement&there was none—nothing but ads!!!

Days after this inquiry, I was notified by e-mail from them that the rate is NOW 28.99%!!! I had just reduced my credit card "stable" to just two cards, reluctantly cancelling another card with a similar fixed rate of 8.99%. How I wish I'd have given THESE guys the boot. I will, too... I'm getting a different card and tranferring my balance... I'm dropping these guys like a hot rock!!
