Offered major credit card did not issue, unauthorized debits, no refunds

Business & Finance

I received a post card in the mail, stating that I was pre-approved for a credit card with a credit limit of $4,500. When I called to inquire, they said it was a catalogue credit card, but that I would also get a Visa or Mastercard with a credit limit of $1,500, with a registration fee of $149.00.

This seemed a heaven-sent opportunity for me, trying to rebuild my credit. Well, I okayed the $149.00 debit from my account, and this debit alone. Weeks went by and I still received nothing in the way of a credit card. Finally, I got in the mail a catalogue and an account card for this catalogue. Along with the catalogue were applications for major credit cards, but, alas, no credit card. When I called to ask about the credit card I was promised, I was told that I needed to APPLY for this credit card.

This confused me. I would never have signed up with this company had I not been promised a credit card. Meanwhile, I was signed up for some long distance service which I never used, but for which I was still charged on a monthy basis. Too, I was charged monthy service fees for an account which I had not yet (or ever, for that matter) activated. I was told that it was too late to get any money back, despite circumstances which landed me in the hospital for unexpected emergency surgery, and put me out of work for almost two months.

I have still to this day received no compensation for the money that they took unwarrentedly, or the bank fees I was charged for overdafts from unauthorized debits. No one has contacted me about a refund, though my account has supposedly been under review in the refund department for over two months now. Again, I've not received even a single phone call.

This complaint is only one means of attempting to make this situation right. Another method I am attempting to use is going to their country music star endorsment, Irlene Mandrell.in searching for a way to contact her, it turns out that she is on the payroll for another rip-off credit company, NACS & Preferred Merchants Bank. Hmmm... Nice Lady. I wonder if she has any clue that the money she's being paid comes from unsuspecting victims much like myself. It was in looking for her information that I found this wonderful website. It is a relief to know that there is at least one organization whose intention is to HELP the consumer, not to bleed them for every dime they have, and then some.

I encourage every victim of such frauds to contact the Attorney General's office for both the state in which you live, and the one out of which the scammers run. Good Luck!
