Trilegiant And Citibank
Credit card fraud and accessory to defraud

This is a simple, yet crimminal act by both Citibank and Trilegiant. I have a credit card with Citibank. They outsourced a consumer service called "Protection Plus" to Trilegiant. (perhaps the highest bidder) Trilegiant offers an insurance type product in which they pay credit card balances in the event of loss of job, death, etc...
Even after I explicitly declined the offer from a Trilegiant telemarketer, I was "enrolled" anyway in a free three month trial membership. A couple weeks later I received a "renewal notice" stating that I would be charged $45 if I failed to cancel my membership. This is downright theft! I used to have some measure of respect for Citibank, but I see they have sold out to scamming their customers and washing their hands of any wrong doing.

The "renewal" notice stated "Protection Plus is provided by Trilegiant Corporation, which is not affiliated with Citibank, the issuer of your credit card."

My warning to all credit card holders: be on the lookout for this type of scam. Assume that all companies are suspect. It seems this type of fraud has become standard operating proceedure. What is this world coming to? Where is George Bailey's Savings and Loan?
