Canceled credit

I would like to understand why I should have to use my credit card in order to keep my credit. I thought cash was good I am wrong. There was a sale on my wife and I went to look at a new sofa to my suprise my card was closed do to non use. No one told me so brick I am letting you know that my cash is ok at sears ond so is my card they have no problem this either.
