CareCredit GE MoneyBank
Confusing site and misinformed by customer service rep

Business & Finance

Used Care Credit for dental work to take advantage of the 12 month interest free financing offer. My first bill was due on 5/4/10. I went to their site and was enrolled in their auto pay for the full amount of the transaction, $2226. I rectified the amount on 4/27/10 and changed it to $185.58 which in twelve payments would bring my account to almost zero balance. I called and spoke to a CSR on 5/4/10 to make sure they would be taking out the specified amount of $185.50 on that date for fear of any applied finance charges and late fees if it was late. She confirmed as much. The next day, 5/5/10, I went to site and they had taken out the full balance of the account. I called them and was told that it was my fault for not turning off the automatic payment first, then turning it back on, then changing the amount. What??? Despite the email confirmation of an auto pay in the amount of $185.50 it was still my fault and the $185.50 would be applied next month. What??? I don't have a balance next month anymore. Turn off/on/change... What a confusing website I'm sure only to ensure that we fail to follow up to their end of the bargain of on on time payments thus having to pay the interest. Now I have to take my time to go to my bank, make sure nothing goes wrong with my other accounts since I was not expecting $2226 to be taken out but $185.50. Better Businesss Bureau will love this.
