Fraudulent claim of unpaid debt in the amount of $1626.27

Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC sent me a letter claiming I owed $1626.27 to American General/More Card. This is not a debt that I am aware of and it did not show on my credit report (my credit score is 794-I have no bad debt). I called the company and the lady said the debt was from 1993 and she asked me for my ss#. I gave her the last 4 digits only and she said that was the number she had. I know now I should have asked her for the numbers.in any event she said I could dispute the debt. I told her I would not dispute a debt I didn't have. She said I would be "reported" if they did not hear from me in 30 days. This company offered to settle my debt by giving me a credit card (Emblem Master Card). I would have to pay in $407 to qualify then they would apply the TOTAL of my debt to the card which would have -0- interest and I would have $82 of available credit. Unbelievable! These people should be shut down for mail fraud. I have retained thier paperwork in case there is any legal action against these people.
