I was contacted in early November about back taxes owed to the State of New Jersey by my late husband and I. My husband died in March and my grand daughter (who I am raising) and I are exisiting on 580.00 per month while I am applying for disability. I am severely crippled by Rheumatoid Arthritis. I spoke with Ms Shambrey who told me that if I paid 1,233.49 within the week the penalties and interest would be dropped. I borrowed the money from a family member and paid it. Then in December I called Ms Shambrey because the State had sent me a check for over 600.00. She told me not to cash it. She said that it may be an error. I have held te check, Today the state sent me bills for more money for the same debt. It seems that the only dropped som of the penalties, When ever I call Ms Shambrey she goes through the whole speach about the call being recorded. She lied to me and it should be on tape in her office. Can I get the State to hear her tapes. Will they have to accept the deal she negotiated as their agent. This has me so upset
