Housing Law Center I am a disabled widow, and this company took me for $2500. They are unprofessional lawyers & pro ripoff artists!

I was contacted by this firm in June '09 with a promise that their lawyers would assist me with a loan modification to reduce my rate to possibly 2%. I was elated!

I am disabled and a recent widow and my household income has been reduced by more than 2/3. My husband died after an eight month battle with cancer. The law offices of Brian J. Colombana charged me $3000, but I could not pay them all at once. They agreed to payments. I have paid them to date $2500.

The people working there are extremely unprofessional, not returning calls, not keeping records, not following through with their promise per their contract. They don't have lawyers doing any work, but use real estate agents instead, or sometimes people with no experience at all.

For the money I spent, they faxed my financials to the bank successfully one time - four full months after they had my money! That was an expensive fax! I had called their offices a dozen times, emailed them as often and begged them to do as they promised. The told lies and never did a thing except get one fax to the bank in all that time. Now fully six months after they first contacted me, many stomach aches later, I realize that I have been totally the victim of a huge scam.

They have on staff a bully named Bertha who tried to collect from me the final $500 that they say I owe them... She threatened, hollered and and hung up on me three times. This after I stated I would not pay another cent until I had some positive action regarding a loan modification. She hung up on me.

Now this company has access to my most personal financial information and my SS #; I lay awake at night and worry to the point of illness over this fiasco.

I am obviously extremely upset at not only losing $2500 that I can't afford. I have never been more skunked in all my life, and I pray that someone will help myself and the others who have been bilked by this company. After caretaking my husband, watching him die, dealing with Social Securtiy and my disability, and being cheated by these 'ambulance chasers', I wish to see this company and all it's employees pay for the anguish they have caused so many people.
