Held Deposit, $100 Courtesy Credit and NSF Fee Complaint

BB&T is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. They were quick to get me in as a customer but omitted most of the fine print. That is, until I made a fine print mistake. Of course, I made the mistake because I am incompetent. I mean, I work and am going through college, but I must be the idiot, not the bank's fault. I was unaware that they hold a deposit made after 2 pm until 6 a.m. the next business day, but they do give you a courtesy deposit of $100 at 12 am. It was explained to me after I got an NSF, by a bank rep, that my deposit funds may not be available as scheduled, but a $100 courtesy from my deposit would be available as scheduled.

So how do I know in which situations my deposit will be available? And how long will I have to wait? Imagine that, the bank is doing you a favor by allowing you $100 of your own money! Checks can go through your account at any time, but they cannot deposit a payroll check in a timely manner! Then they rearrange all debits from highest to smallest and take out all debits before credits! You might as well throw out your bank ledger, because you never know when they will post deposits to your account. Sometimes they post it the same day, sometimes 2-3 days. It just depends on how they feel! Flip a coin!

So if you live from paycheck to paycheck, you will never know when they deposit your money. You should have the money in there according to your ledger, and online banking also confirms the money is there, but lo and behold, they held your deposit, let debits go through, and now you are NSF. It really has nothing to do with spending money you do not have in an account. It has to do with them fudging the funds in the account to better suit their needs. They forget that it is the customer's money, not theirs. I would not recommend this bank to anyone else, and if my fees are not refunded, I will be going elsewhere!
