National Benefit Agency
Scam! Identitiy theft risk!

Business & Finance

I received an automated phone call from this company essentially stating: "Your credit & debit card has been frozen and will remain shut down and unable to be used until you reactivate your account with us. Please enter your debit or credit card number now". I could not understand the bank's name as it was mumbled in the message.

Belonging to a very small local credit union I was immediately suspicious of the call. I did not enter any information. I then looked the number up online where I found a lovely website - looking legit but about government grants, not credit or debit cards. They displayed the same number as the one I received the call from. I then called the number and was sent through a very official sounding automated system with all sorts of options & extensions, but in the end you always wind up with: "All of our representatives are busy, please leave your name & number in a message & we will call you back." Then the system goes to a messaging service which tells you the mailbox is full and disconnects you.

This is an obvious phishing site & scam that is extending past government grants into credit & debit card theft & fraud.
