Last Spring, I believe I tried to call Barkley to pay off my bill early, as I had a little trouble with the Internet form. The telephone operator told me that he found my bank number and would send me an email. Some time later someone called and said it did not go through. They called me in a store, I think, and I got back with them later. We went through the same thing. They said the transaction when through, said I would not be charged a late fee, and would send me an email. Then, when I was in the middle of a park, someone called and said I immediately needed to take care of my bill.
I called as soon as I had an opportunity the next day. I had not even been sent a bill, and was supposedly very late. I found out they were using the same wrong number that I tried to put in on the internet weeks ago. The first time the operator said he found the right bank number through my bank, The other times I had been giving them the correct banking information over the phone.
They said they would give me some months credit free if I would pay one late fee.
That summer when I tried to apply at the bank for an plan where if I accidentally bounce a check it's covered through savings, they said they could not as I had bad credit. When I finish paying that bill off, that card will be destroyed for sure.
