Wouldn't provide their financial licensing information and Secretary of State couldn't find them registered anywhere!

Business & Finance

I filled out an application for a personal loan on-line and within about 48-72 hours, I received an email from a Katherine Smith stating that I had been approved and to call the number listed. When I called, she informed that I had been approved for a $10,000.00 loan with a "private lender" but then proceeded to inform me that I needed to make a $1200.00 collateral payment since my credit is bad. Once I made that payment, my loan proceeds would be deposited into my checking account with 6-24 hours. And they wanted to do the loan proceeds through Money Gram (red flag). I hung up and immediately went to the BBB site and of course they were on there. Next, I went to the State of Colorado's website to try and look them up and low and behold, not one trace of this company anywhere in the state. I couldn't even find a yellow pages listing of them at the address provided. I called them and asked them for their financial licensing info and was told the couldn't disclose this info due to fraud fears!!! I called back the state to make sure I double checked that they couldn't find them and still got no luck. I called my rep back last night and told her that they are required by law to provide the information and that if they didn't, my next calls would be to the Attorney General's office and to the Colorado state police! I have tried called her again this morning since she told me last night that she would see what she could find out and she is now not picking up!!! Thankfully, I knew to be warry of these scams and is finding this whole heartedly amusing!
