I reported Chase Bank to the Comptroller of the Currency earlier this year for raising my APR to a very high percentage. Chase then lowered it following my complaint.
Yesterday I receive a notice from Chase that they have now lowered my available credit. They wrote that this was done with information rec'd from Experian. They gave the following reason's: (1 too few accounts with time on file greater than 36 months. My oldest acct was opened 28yrs ago. (2, Bankcard balances grew too fast compared to credit limit and time on file. Chase took over my WAMU acct 2/09. Since that time, I have put a total of 275.62 on the credit card. Their fee's are more than that.
What is interesting is that Chase has not looked at my credit report in over a year! I ordered a new report today to review it. My FICO score is good as is my report from all 3 bureaus.
It is my understanding that 15 day's notice must be given prior to making changes in the terms of one's account. I was given no notice. Again, I rec'd the letter yesterday and this new credit limit is, as of this am, already on their automated system and also on the credit reports.
Again, I have contacted the Comptroller of the Currency. If this has happened to you, act on it. Chase is ruthless. Let's not take this anymore.
