Approved Deferral, Then Foreclosure Letter and $104 Late Fee

I called Wachovia Mortgage at their "Loan Counseling" Department to apply to have 1 house payment deferred, they qualified me and gave me an approval to skip two months payment for June and July of I received an approval letter in the mail which I signed and returned to them in seven days but, wanted to make sure so I called them two days later and asked if this was a real deal had my June and July payments really been approved to be deferred? The customer service representative replied YES and that my next payment would not be due until August 15th. Nearly 2 weeks later I receive a letter in the mail saying that Wachovia Mortgage was going to Foreclose on my home. They also charged me a late fee for one month that totaled 104.00 dollars!!! I called them and they would do nothing to help, not even concerned in the least bit about the homeowner just wanted there money. The customer service representatives in the Loan Counseling Department do not seem to get the correct training they need to help people with such an important bill such as a Mortgage payment. They may seem like they know what they are talking about but they really do not. I ended up having to come up with 4723.00 or they said they would start foreclosure proceedings on my home. They took no responsibility for the approval letter they sent out to me stating clearly that I did not have to pay June and July Payments and would not look into why they decided to deny me the deferral after they already approved it.

I believe they do this to gain additional daily interest as well as 104.00 late fees from Homeowners, if you are thinking about getting a deferral from Wachovia on your mortgage payments make sure they give you something in writing saying that they can be help responsible for the deferral if anything happens once your told you are approved. We all work hard in today's economy to hold onto what little we have and companies like these should be ashamed of taking advantage of people. Be Careful of Wachovia take your business elsewhere believe me you won't be sorry, It will save you a lot of money and a headache in the long run. Its just not worth it to do business with companies that pay no mind to the people who make their companies possible in the first place!
