Deceptive Collection Practices Gerardo

Business & Finance

I was contacted by Victoria at NARS in April to settle an outstanding credit card debt with Providian. I was told that I could settle a $1,300 debt for $400, paying two payments of $200 each. I was told that after I made the final $200 payment I would receive a call and by mail with verification that the debt had been settled should anyone try to collect on this account in the future.

Now that I have made the final payment, I received a call today from NARS saying that I still owed the entire balance and that the $400 payments made were only to show that I was willing to settle the account. I spoke with Victoria's supervisor, "Lynn Jackson", and she informed me that her agents would have never agreed to settle an account in the manner I described.

I am trying my best to settle my outstanding debts after divorce. I am a single parent of four just struggling to survive. I despise being taken in this manner!
