Threating to sue, damage credit on 18 year old "debt"

In researchign on the internet for a bit on and know that this is a zombie debt collection agency. I have gone through this a couple of years back to find that supposedly I owed a couple of hundred on an old credit card some 20 years ago. It wasn't on my credit report then or even 5 years before, because IF it existed, it was well past any statute of limitations. Well apparently the ARA scam agency bought the "debt" for a few pennies and now is trying to bully and threaten me into paying. Some how a couple hundred dollars of "supposed" debt with some outrageous 30% interest rate and random fees has become some joke of an amount of some TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Not that I even am close to able to pay such an amount. I have been reading more and more about the ins and out of zombie debt collectors. Debt that may or may not have existed is sold in a market place for such things. Agencies like this ARA or others buy this stuff for almost nothing. But it is so profitable, that even if they only get 1 person in a hundred to pay up, they make huge money.

Do not fall for these jokers, do not fall for out of statute debt collectors. I don't know why, but Illinois seems to have a lot of these outfits. The last time I got one of these letters it was also from suburban Chicago. Illinois must have really poor consumer protection and tolerate scams. Anyways, ARA is toothless tiger, they don't have a leg to stand in court or otherwise on and rely on scare tactics to try to make money on debt that is no longer enforcable.

DO NOT give an outfit like this any information, and most importantly DO NOT negotiate or agree to even pay a single penny on old "debt." Paying even a penny can restart the debt clock, and then jokers like ARA can sue you, take your wages, ruin your credit and everything else they threaten in their harassing calls and letters.
