Repackaging bad loans, lieing and rude

First - a legitimate debt is owed by a family member.

This IS a collection agency.

With this said, they called on May 29 to the family member stating I was a cosigner on the note and told family member "if they didn't get the money from them, they would get it from" me.

I am NOT a cosigner but, a reference on the member's whereabouts and it so states on THE CONTRACT.

That is fraud #1.

The other fraud is that these folks are accepting payments for a period of time (this case 9 months) and then doing a refinance and selling the notes to someone unaware that the original person maybe of dubious ability to repay note. (specifically in this case person has been unemployed for over one year).

I got one of the several folks to acknowledge that they had lied as it was to "get the debtor off their duff" to pay the note. (other people there lied and said he never did anything wrong).

Be aware, I am paying them the token amount to keep them from harassing the family member. I hope that the people buying the note are notified of what they are doing so as to not to be sold worthless pieces of paper, such as was done in the housing market.

These folks were rude but, I think that comes with the territory of being a collection agent (I think it is a prerequisite), but, they also LIED.

Read everything they send you and DO NOT, depend on anything said on the phone (unless you record it), and then it might not be admissible in court.
