Watch out for this Scam!

Business & Finance

I just recieved a letter from NC Recovery Solutions, 349-L Copperfield Blvd. NE, Suite 356, Concord, NC 28025. This letter was sent to my dad's house (haven't lived there for years) he told me i should come by and get this letter it looked like I might be in some kind of debt trouble. I felt a little confused about this because i had payed everything off in the past and had no idea what this letter could be about. Openning the letter I looked at the heading (very simple and typed with a typewriter font. The layout was one of which a sixth grader could master and the bold font throughout took away from the validity. The header read: NCRS - Debt Collect, 349-L Copperfield Blvd NE, Concord, NC 28025 (a new name and no suite number) 704-464-6550 8am-9pm EST.
April 7

Invoice number: x0000-000/000-xx-0x (only the first 5 characters mattered in our phone conversation).
With regards to your past account with the company they have been unsuccessful in receiving your cancellation fee either by phone or by mail. Due to the privacy act, please call me for any additional information that can help you! (why an exclimation mark?) If this is ignored, your fees will multiply.

(All in bold) This account will be going to the legal department which may go into court at the end of April!!! (wow a lot of exclimations!) This is an attemp to collect a debt this is very serious!
*NCRS is a collection agency hired to mediate and collect a det and is not the company you owe (so why did she say to pay NCRS?) Upon mediation, the debt files are forwarded back to the primary collectors legal department for pursuaint action. (bold) This can be very costly to you!!!

Sincerely, 704-464-6550
Collection Manager / Jullianne - EXT 210

Pay Collection Fee of (hand written) 189.99 ASAP or additional Fee of $300.00 will aply along with additional costs! This must be paid by 4/15/09

PAY OR CALL!!! ASAP (black sharpie marker)

I called and there was a recording, please leave your name number and i will get back to you, no company name or persons name! Very odd to me that this company does not get mentioned at all. After calling once more no answer, Julianne called her missed call from me and said, "hello, who is this again you sound like a collection agent, ha ha ha." "Okay i need to get your invoice number, just the first part is fine." I was instantly feeling confused because there was a child screaming in the background and a male voise yelling at the child and talking to her.

She must have a messy desk becasue all I could here was shufflinf paper and breathing. She then went into taking me back in time to 2002 and how I subscribed to some magazines, which she had one magazine right, but the rest were completely off the wall. She must have gotten a list from some publisher. She told me the whole story of how they are figthing against this compay and we need to pay the cancellation fee. I am wondering what everyone is doing for this and I would like to get rid of these awful people.
