NCRS-Debt Collect, NC Recovery Solutions
Sent me letter with false claim that I had an outstanding debt, which NCRS was attempting to collect

On March 28, I received a letter from a company, identified on the envelope as "NC Recovery Solutions, " claiming that it was attempting to collect a past due debt on behalf of another firm, which was not identified in the letter.

NC Recovery Solutions, identified as "NCRS-Debt Collect" in the actual letter, claimed that I owed an amount of $189.99 and that I had to pay this 'cancellation fee of $189.99 ASAP' or incur an additional fee of $300.00, as well as court costs.

The letter, which included various typographical errors and handwritten comments (in both blue ink and black marker), was poorly written and contained several threats and warnings, which were highlighted with bold type and multiple exclamation points.

In addition to failing to identify the company to whom NCRS claimed I owed nearly $200, the letter stated that the mystery firm had attempted, unsuccessfully, to reach me via phone or mail.

I Google'd the business and attempted to look up the firm on the White Pages, to no avail. The firm did not come up in any searches and the number was identified as 'unpublished.'

In spite of believing the letter to be a scam, I called the number provided — (704) 464-6550, which was typed and written in blue pen, to see if I could obtain additional information.

Upon the first ring, a woman answered the phone with a goofy and drawn out 'yes' — as if expecting a call from a buddy. When I began to ask whether the number I had called was (704), etc., she immediately stammered, 'Uh, NCRS?'

She asked me for my name and when I asked to first give her the invoice number posted in the letter, she immediately became irate, rude, loud and abruptly told me she would be 'in the office in an hour' and would call me back.

Psycho! I never did hear back from her.

My next step was to search collection businesses and 'scams' in North Carolina. That's when I came upon the "complaint" and a previous filing against NCRS by another individual. I immediately signed up to file a report.

I would be only too happy to assist with nailing these scumbags and helping to protect innocent, hard working citizens.
