Wells Fargo Credit Card Services
Lies when entering into debt settlement Los Angeles California

Business & Finance

I have heard about others experiencing this, and it has happened to me: I was lied to when entering into a supposed debt settlement with Wells Fargo credit card. The whole debt was $2500, and after multiple conversations, with a number of people, WF had verbally agreed to a settlement for $1500. I ran out and got the money and sent a cashier's check to the address whey gave me, and noted that this was in full settlement of my outstanding debt.

This was 4 months ago. I am now learning that they took my money and applied it to the account without closing or settling my debt, and insist the settlement was 'declined', and I still owe another $1500 after fees and so on.

This is an awful way to treat people who have fallen on hard times and are doing all that they can to pay off debt and cover at least part of what they owe.
I am now trying to negotiate another settlement with WF, and will wait for confirming letters in the mail this time. No more checks from me before seeing anything in writing.

Just heads up to everyone else - they will lie and pretend to settle on the phone to get you to pay and will then move on to collecting more.
