Harrassing collectors ripoff abused & mistreated

We got a second loan from HomEq in 2000.in our restaurant business went bankcrupt and my husband couldn't find a job. Needless to say, we fell behind in our loan payment. We are getting called everyday at exactly 8:00 in the morning and every hour after that until 6:00 at night. If we try to promise something to the first collector in the morning, that doesn't stop the phone calls, that we have to make promises almost every hour. After a week of harassment we started screening calls.

In 2002 we finally caught up with our mortgage payments, but the daily phone call doesn't stop because our due date is on the 27th and they do not charge late fees until the 9th of the following month, which I understand what is called grace period. But if they do not receive the payment on the 27th, we start getting calls on the 28th.

Oh not only that, during the time we are late, we are paying them extra 9.00 a month of collection fee being asessed on us.

They said it was in our contract that if they have to make a collection call, we will be charged. Then what is the grace period for if they are going to start calling even before the grace period expired.

I told all my friends & family to be aware of Homeq. Never to get any loans from them. I am glad to find this site by accident to share our experience.
