In July my wife and I tried to purchase a home. Since we have relatively poor credit, and had been turned down by two banks previously, we were told by a friend that a company named All Mortgage Services in Dallas, Texas may be able to help us qualify and purchase a home.

We called All Mortgage Services and spoke to a Michael Landin (AKA Miguel Angelo Landin—his real name we later found out). Mr. Landin asked me a few, what he called qualifying questions, and then made an appointment for my wife and myself to come to All Mortgage Services to make out a credit application that he would "shop around". He further stated he felt certain he could help us purchase a home.

When we arrived at All Mortgage Services, we thought it was kind of odd because the company was located in a private residence at 8406 Craighill Ave., Dallas Texas, but really didn't give this fact any further thought because Mr. Landin told us he was operating from his home temporarily because he was waiting for his "real office" to be remodeled.

After making out the Credit application Mr. Landin asked us to pay him $2500.00 cash as his fee, Because he was a Mortgage Broker and was acting as our Agent, further he said this was the customary practice in The State of Texas. Mr. Landin told us he would have us in a nice home very soon, so we paid Mr. Landin the $2500.00 in cash he asked for, which was kind of hard for us because it was almost all the money we had saved for a down payment, but we thought it would be worth it because we were finally going to get our own home for us and our children.

Two weeks later, not hearing from Mr. Landin, we tried to call him at All Mortgage Services only to find the phone number we had, had been disconnected!!! The next day after we got off work, My wife and I went to the home on Craighill Ave in Dallas we had gone to, to make out our Credit Application. No one answered the door. After several further visits to this home (each time we left a note for Mr. Landin to call us) with the same results we were devastated. Had this man ripped us of? It appeared so.

About a week after we had stopped going to All Mortgage Services (Mr. Landin's home) my wife called a friend whose husband was a Police Officer in the town we lived in. He came over to our home and we told him what had happened to us. He told us he couldn't promise anything, but he would look into this situation for us.

Several days later, the Officer came back to our home and this is what he had found out:

No one named Michael Landin, AKA Miguel Angelo Landin (his real name) had a current Mortgage Broker License or even a Real State License in the State of Texas. He also found Mr. Landin has been operating under several other Company Names over the last 10 years, out of the same address we had gone to in Dallas, Texas. Hispanic Mortgage Services, Hispanic Tax Service, Hispanic Home loans, Prestamos De Casa Hispano, Prestamos De Hipoteca Hispano, Hispanic Mortgage Loans, Services Hipoteca Hispano, and Realty Capital Financiers.

He also told us since he or another Police Officer had not witnessed us giving Mr. Landin the cash payment, the only thing we could do about this was to file a civil lawsuit against Mr. Landin/All Mortgage Services; however, in his opinion even if we won a judgment-all we could do was to file a lien on something Mr. Landin owned&not much help in recovering our money. He then left and told us on his way out to be more careful with our money.

Well, this filing a small claims Lawsuit was way way beyond either my wife's or my expertise, so here we are out our $2500.00 and nothing further can be done about it. I hope reading about our experience will help some trusting, unsuspecting couple in the future, what else can I say!!!
