How Can This Be Right?

How can Wachovia get by with charging overdraft fees on accounts when an in bank deposit is being made??? This happened one other times this year on making deposits in person on my account. The last event occured when my fiance went in the branch on a Thursday with my cash and deposit slip at 4p and was told that the deposit would not count until Saturday?

The teller explained that if she came back on Friday morning then the deposit would be made effective that day??? Of course if both of us did not work it would be convenient to go back, but I do not understand this type of business practice. My fiance questioned the teller several times and repeated back what she was being told. I had two bills that were to be paid out on Friday. Nevertheless I was charged two overdrafts of $35.00 each while Wacvhovia held my money hostage.
