On January 3 we received a "Demand Letter" from FAIRBANKS CAPITAL CORP. Stating we failed to make our payments and this letter served as a formal notice of default on our mortgage.
Who the hell is Fairbanks?
It isn't until we call them that we find out they now have our mortgage.in fact it was about 3 days after this "Demand Letter" that we received a "Welcome Letter".
They inform us that we haven't made December or Januarys payments. When in fact we have the canceled check for December and had already mailed January to the previous mortgage holder. We continuously faxed then copies of bank statements and canceled checks, only to receive harrassing phone calls at home and work.
This has been a nightmare from the day we read the name Fairbanks... But like other people have said you can get out... But not without paying for it... Check your paper work for the term "Prepayment Penalty" its costing us an extra $1,800.00 but we'll be out from under this mess in 5 days.
