First Convenience Bank
Charged me NSF fees twice for the same item

Business & Finance

I have worked in banking for years before I had my first child almost 4 years ago and I have NEVER seen banking performed like this before: I used my Debit card for an online purchase recently and it has remained a 'pending' transactions for several days. Naturally this amount was deducted from my account balance as I expected it to be. But then I go hit with two NSF fees and I called about them since what I saw on my online statement, my account was positive before the two NSF fees.

Well, they informed me that even though that transaction was pending (and not POSTED) it went against my account and it caused me to go negative so I got charged for that item and the following check that cleared as well. So when the amount for the online purchase was actually posted to my account, I recieved yet another NSF... Charged TWICE for the same item.

If I hadn't been charged for the pending transaction in the first place I wouldn't have been charged for the second time when it posted. I have worked at two other banks and they operate on a simular size and level as FCB and they do not do thier business this way. No one is ever charged an NSF until it is posted to the account, not while it is pending. Pending means just that, that it is pending... Still open for consideration. I am going back to where I know I will not be ripped off.
